The Ambassadors of Jesus Christ Ministries (AJCM) in Namungoona Kampala Uganda provides various support services to the community including a school for ~200 preparatory and primary aged children, group activities for young persons aged between 13 and 30 to foster social skills, identity development, spiritual growth through a sense of community and belonging, classes for women to learn life skills and how to generate income for self-sustainability, singing and dancing for the community.

ActionLove Australia (ALA) discovered that this community group lacked the toilet facilities to accommodate the needs of people who visited the premises on a weekly, which would be at least some 2,000 people! There was 1 small cubicle without lighting with a small rectangle hole in the ground (for women and probably men as well when the need arises), and beside the women’s cubicle, 1 small wall (only for men).

In 2024, ALA donated funds to AJCM for the toilet project to be commenced. First the bio-digester tank pit, soak pit, piping and plumbing had to be done, then the foundation for the toilet facilities, then the frames, walls, cisterns and urinals, and sinks, then the tiling, doors and finishes. This project is ongoing.

The people are very glad for the encouragement, support and funding assistance by ALA, however the ongoing construction does make movement around the premises challenging. Hopefully they will have a decent and new toilet facilities for the relief (forgive the pun!) of all involved in the not too far away future!
